Completed as an overnight tramp with WTMC - a very easy trip!

Atiwhakatu Hut

Visited multiple times, including October 2007 and February 2008
Old Forest Service hut, 2 platforms, slept approx. 8 people.
Stayed one night on Gold DoE expedition, plus another night about 10 years earlier, otherwise passing through on way to Jumbo Hut

Herepai Hut
Herepai Hut, Putara Road, Tararua Forest Park.
Visited 20-Sept-2014 (1 night).
10 bunks on 2 platforms. Beware, it can be very damp in winter.
Tramping with members of the WTMC families group.

Holdsworth Lodge

Visited on multiple occasions both to stay and just to sign in / out of the park
28 Individual bunks in three rooms, electricity provided, bookings essential.

Mountain House (2)

Visited several times in the 90’s before it was demolished.
This was the second incarnation of Mountain House, slightly off the main track. The current shelter is back on the spot where the original Mountain house stood.

First trip I lead with tramping club. A long drive for a short walk, but a lovely location for the hut.

Raukawa

Stopped in for a break in the shade after walking back up a VERY hot, and very dry river valley.

Not suitable for overnight stays, and not great for lunchbreaks either. Somewhat surprised this is still being maintained.

New New Waihohonu Hut

First stop on the Round the mountain. Also a daywalk from the club lodge for a formal lunch.
